Seeing Through Stigma (STS)
Freeing The World From Stigma...One Story At The Time
Seeing Through Stigma is a fresh and different anti-stigma campaign project.
Seeing Through Stigma presentations consist of two or more panelists who share their journeys of recovery with various audiences, and the paths they have taken towards reaching a place of recovery for themselves. The panelists share about their journeys and what they like to do today to stay well. This may be a balance of healthy nutrition, sleep, exercise, social engagements, family support, or attending wellness support groups. We do presentations to various locations in San Mateo County. We speak to high schools, local respite centers, junior colleges, local rehab facilities, anti-stigma conferences, crisis suicide prevention centers, crisis-in-training at police academies, churches, schools of nursing, hospitals, senior housing facilities, as well as psychology and psychiatric interns.
Some of us may have faced the stigma of mental health and the adverse tone society has put on those who live with mental health challenges. We share the message of hope with our stories and how we have come to our place of wellness.
We are changing the conversation from diagnosis to dialogue, and mental illness to mental resilience.

"Thank you so much for the excellent presentation. We received very good feedback ... Reducing stigma and providing hope are what we aim to achieve here at Caminar. You and your panelists appear to have found a perfect way to address this and touch many lives in the process. It's quite remarkable.
Thanks so much for all you and your team do..."
